About

Gianluca Carrera.

Writing, speaking and teaching on data monetisation.

I write and speak about how organisations convert data into revenue. The thesis is simple: data monetisation is a discipline, not a side-effect of analytics or AI — and most companies do not yet have it.

That thesis is built on 25+ years of operating experience. Most recently CPO at Facile.it (Silver Lake) and previously CPO at dunnhumby, where I drove a 150% equity valuation lift, launched Walmart Luminate, and built Tesco's UK retail-media platform to 30%+ market share. Earlier senior roles at Pubmatic, Reward, Truvo and Yahoo!.

Today I write essays on data monetisation, platforms and AI; speak at venues including Forbes, Richmond, Confartigianato and Confcooperative; and teach on graduate programmes at Bologna Business School, LUISS, and Università Cattolica.

For commercial advisory work, I run a small practice at monetaise.com.
